Saturday at home

Life with a toddler and an infant is certainly hectic, but always entertaining. Having kids has been such an adventure, and we both realized pretty quickly that one of the coolest parts is you get to be a kid again yourself! It's hard to explain, but anyone that has a kid knows...every time they discover something, or learn something for the first time, you get to do it again too. What a great excuse to be silly, it seems that around our house there is almost always constant dinosaur stomping & giggles.
It is hard being at home full time with two very demanding little people, but what a great time it is in their little lives! Right now they have no idea when we are too poor to take vacation...or when mom didn't get the diapers washed and dried in time..they think it's just fun naked time.
We try every day to take in these days, soon enough we will be lame old parents to them and not want much to do with us, so while we are still the coolest people in their little world, we will make the most of it!!

Now, in other news...another baby boy has joined us! His name is Jaxon, and we are so excited to meet him! I'm still hoping someone I know will have a girl...just so Willow has at least one girlfriend.
Speaking of Willow...she got her ears pierced last week. I went back and forth for months debating on whether or not to do it, trying to justify causing my poor baby pain for no good reason. I finally thought, well it's not that bad, and it's quick. So as soon as they did the first ear, and she screamed her high pitch, pathetic little girl scream, I felt like the worst parent ever! I immediately regretted it, and I almost stopped it right there. Once it was over, and she settled down, they were the most adorable little ears I've ever seen. She has since not even flinched during cleaning or anything else.
To summarize, we are glad it's over..and it's cute. I'm not totally sure I would have done it again though.

How about a few pictures...they are what really matter:

Willow-before the earrings...cute as a button! This is my favorite shirt of hers by Zutano.

Noah is impossible to take pictures of anymore, he always runs away

Eating animal "ar-rars"

He can reach the pedals now.

Earrings!

Noah got these glasses at a friends anniversary dinner...he thinks he is so cool.

As of today, Willow officially has her first tooth after a week of teething & fussiness! She's now seven months, so not too bad. It's only half way in so far...can't wait to get a picture of it!

On a totally different subject...I have realized recently how easy it is to get caught up in trying to recreate in my life what I love about other peoples lives...for example decorating, or a certain style that I admire. I've noticed that when you do that, or when you are constantly looking for 'inspiration' by scrolling through hundreds of online photos, and blogs, you start to forget what YOU really like! Is it just me? Lately I have been on a mission, to do things my way again (I'm really only referring to my house decor...). I was forgetting that I am the type of person that loves color..everywhere (except my dishes which must all be white!) I like things to be a little mismatched, and sometimes I love ugly things, because they are ugly, anyone that knew me as a kid will know this! So...I've started applying this, and in doing so I have found that I am much more pleased with the finished product. I love clean and simple modern decor...but it doesn't always reflect...ME! I've rambled a bit here...hopefully this makes sense haha, I plan on posting some pictures of around the house projects soon!

  1. Leecy,

Was searching for my GF's blog and came across yours. Loved your thoughtful reasoning and description and pictures of having your dd's ears pierced as an infant. I think you were a super smart mommy for doing it now when mommy can care for them. She'll thank you later!

Our ped also encouraged to do it when mommy could care for them. I think babies and little girls with pierced ears are adorable. It celebrates their femininity and femaleness. Like you, I kept seeing babies and little girls with earrings and how cute they were with little gold studs in their ears poking through their hair.

Our ped gave me some suggestions for moms having their infant dd's ears pierced as well as for "Tips for moms having their dd's ears pierced/Care of Newly Pierced Ears."

If you or any other moms thinking about it and want to do it now or would like them, write me an e-mail.
